All competitors entering who are NOT current members of Aerial Dance Studios Ballarat must submit a 2 minute video entry when submitting your entry form via YouTube link. This does not have to be the routine you will be performing on the day. (For Aerial Dance students please leave this section blank on entry form) If you are unsure which level to enter, please ask your instructor.
There will be an entry fee of $25 for non members and $15 for current Aerial Dance members.
For members to receive member discount, you must log in into your GymMaster account, select purchase, buy new membership. ENTRIES CLOSE MARCH 27TH.
COMPETITION INFORMATION
This year the AERIAL COMPETITION will be held at Aerial Dance Studios, Ballarat on the 9th of August & the POLE COMPETITION at Freight Bar, Ballarat on the 7th of June.
Instructors, competitive level students and performers who have been on a main stage previously or done paid work must compete in Elite.
POLE
Stage dimensions: 6m wide 4m deep.
Poles: 2x 3.6m, brass x poles.
Poles are 2.8m apart.
Stage left will be spin, right static.
Both poles must be used for all divisions, excluding the Floorgasm division.
Human props allowed but must not perform any doubles acrobatics or touch the equipment. No nudity. Pasties and g strings are permitted.
AERIAL
SILKS HEIGHT 6 METERS
HOOP & OTHER AERIAL APPARATUS SET TO YOUR PREFERRED HEIGHT.
YOU MAY BRING YOUR OWN CERTIFIED APPARATUS.
Stage dimensions: 8m wide 6m deep.
Competitors may use a safety mat. A safety mat is mandatory for aerial silks.
Human props allowed but must not perform any doubles acrobatics or touch the equipment.
Stage lighting will change colours periodically during the performance, competitors WILL NOT be able to pick specific lighting
Sashes will be given to all place getters for each category & specialty awards.
RULES FOR LEVELS
BEGINNER
HOOP
No skills may be performed on or above the top bar or strap.
SILKS
No drops or tumbles. No aerial inverts.
POLE
CAN NOT aerial invert, perform drops of flips. Only 1 inverted trick may be performed on the pole. (no inverted combos) must have 2 points of contact on the pole of all time.
INTERMEDIATE
HOOP
No drops or flips where body completely loses contact with the apparatus. Hangs from top bar or strap are okay but performers are not allowed to take entire body above the top bar.
SILKS
No large drops or tumbles that use the full height of the silks. Aerial inverts allowed.
POLE
LOW INTERMEDIATE
CAN NOT aerial invert, perform drops of flips. Can invert and perform inverted combinations.
POLE
HIGH INTERMEDIATE
Can aerial straddle but CAN NOT aerial shouldermount or handspring
CAN do drops such as symphony drops in which both hands are on the pole and the body only does a half rotation.
CAN NOT do a full rotation flips.
No advanced strength skills.
no extream flexibility moves.
ADVANCED
No rules.
ELITE
Must demonstrate at least one dynamic flip, drop/tumble or drop and catch.
Must demonstrate a range or flexibility and strength.
For aerials, any apparatus is welcome in this division.
DOUBLES
Open to both the pole & aerial championships.
Open to all levels and any apparatus in the aerial competition.
Must perform doubles acrobatic skills on and off the apparatus.
FLOORGASM
Pole Championship only.
Open level. No mounting the pole or performing any inverted pole skills. Dance category only. All styles of dance are welcome. One or two poles may be used.
MIXED OPEN
Open to aerial championship only.
Open level for any aerial apparatus other than hoop or silks.
No rules.
JUNIORS
Open to junior aerialist ages 6-12 years for any apparatus.
Open level. Aerial championship only.
